Ronald Passey, an accounting major at Southern Utah University had a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to intern with a couple executives in the Cedar City area.  His ultimate goal was to shadow a few people in the area that have careers in similar positions that he sees himself holding one day in his future.  He ultimately attributed this priceless opportunity to his dedication networking and putting himself out there so that these types of opportunities would present themselves.

Over the summer of 2017, he interned with Dave Eberhard, the CFO of State Bank of Southern Utah and Steven Bradbury, the Vice President over Mortgage Operations at State Bank of Southern Utah.  These internships gave Ronald the opportunity to ask many questions and to find out how these individuals got to where they did.  The various projects and tasks that Ronald was assigned to complete also allowed him to meet many more people with whom he was able to make an impression.

This experience has allowed Ronald to grow his network with many influential people that can help accelerate his career.  It has also given him great hands on experience in in his chosen field of study.

During these internships he learned many things that will help him further his education and ultimately land a career of his dreams.   These executives will also be available as mentors to Ronald as he continues his education with a Master’s of Accountancy and as he sits for the CPA exam.

Ultimately, Ronald is grateful for the experience that he has had and for the way that it has helped to shape his future.  He considers himself lucky to have had this experience that most, if not all, people do not have the opportunity to do.  Ronald will complete his Bachelor’s Degree in December of 2017 after which he will continue his education to obtain his Master’s of Accountancy.  Ronald is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and school falls amongst his other religious, family and work priorities.
